Hey there!
it's October already? wow. this month is one of those crazy months you look back on in previous years and find a lot of good memories in first off, this was the month (on the 1st to be exact) that i came to LA for the first time. now it's been a year! October also sets off the wonderful and joyous occasions of the Holidays! (not to be constricting on Christmas, because there really is more than one holiday from here and new years.) and the holidays are my favorite time of year! the cold weather comes in abruptly, leaves start changing and falling, pumpkin pie, Christmas cookies, candy corn, stuffing, football, the hustle and bustle of the population trying to make each holiday better than the one last year. not to mention, egg nogg and all the seasonal treats!

so, then what's first on our list of holidays? you guessed it! Halloween! i went out with a group of friends last week to experience the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. and what better way to kick off the festivities? THAT was loads of fun and scares! we even purposefully ran away from the pigs with chainsaws so we could get a laugh from the crowd around us. quite entertaining. on a side note, the Simpsons Ride exceeded anything i thought it would be. pure genius!

Not only did that make a wonderful kick off to the season, but i already started receiving gifts! i got a 25$ giftcard from my bank's reward system to Target, and a 25$ giftcard to Game Stop from a survey website that i constantly take surveys. so, i got me some gamecube games and a few warm things from Target for this chilling season. (and no, you can't really buy a whole lot of clothes under 25 at Target...lol). In moments like these (and usually throughout the season) i like to sit back and watch the world at work. When i was living in Memphis, there was one mall everyone went to when every other store failed you, the Wolfchase mall. of course, it's still there... anyway, i would sit on a bench or in the food court and watch people. people-watching is just so fascinating to me. and sometimes entertaining. hah. so many different kinds of people. so many different kinds of smells. kinda like when u walk past a candle shop and you get hit by a wave of aromas. pine tree smell, pumpkins, cinnamon and other spices, even ur grandpa's deodorant or ur grandma's perfume... some people walk at a brisk pace, others take their time, and quite a few have toddlers who just stare around at the mall in amazement and wonder. i used to be one of those kids.
Memphis has it's share of noise pollution, but every now and again you get quiet moments. where i lived, it was a simple, quiet subdivision. neighbors usually kept to themselves. sometimes a leaf blower could be heard outside or someone raking up leaves the old fashion way. with heavy clouds in the sky and never seem to let up and let down. that ominous, cold feeling in the air.

holy crap, what am i doing? haha! i didn't plan on reminiscing on the whole season. but i guess that's what i expect every year. and, of course, family. i don't know about you, but my family loves each other and we can't ever wait to see one another. this is also that time of year i get pretty lonely. i've experienced what it's like to have someone to share moments with, and it was wonderful. but now i don't have anyone, and it would seem rather desperate or even child-like if i tried to find someone just because of that. but hey! it's the season of joy and being around people you love!

and I don't know about you, but i think about this time of year almost every time of year! i just can't wait to get to those pumpkin spice lattes and pull out the jackets and sweatshirts to stylize in! ....i need to get to starbucks...

this is one strange journal entry... i don't normally do this, i promise

anywho! here's to a wonderful start of what might be the best holiday season ever! GAH!! i'm so excited!
not so excited about the huge sickness i usually get this year at this time, but it'll only throw me off a week. bring it!

(the odds of me making another journal this month are pretty high...)
